Your Privacy

Monroe County Apartment Association (MCAA) is committed to safeguarding the privacy of online visitors and users of MCAA’s Website(“site”), mcaaonline.org. By accessing the site, you accept the practices described in the Privacy Policy. The Policy may change occasionally, so please check back periodically.
1. Types of Information Collected and How Is It Used
MCAA collects information from site visitors and users in a variety of ways.
When visitors access MCAA’s site, MCAA collects non-personal information such as the domain from which you access the Internet; the IP address of your computer; the date and time you access MCAA’s site; and the internet address of the Website from which you linked to the MCAA’s site. MCAA uses this information only to evaluate its site.
MCAA’s site users may provide personal information. Users that are not members of MCAA may provide contact information such as name, company name, address, phone, and email address. MCAA will use that information for communication purposes with the site user. If the user registers for an event held by MCAA, the contact information may be given to other event registrants. Information provided to MCAA by MCAA members may be used for communicating with them, in the Membership Directory, or publications of the MCAA. MCAA asks that you update your information as and when it changes, so any information used to serve you remains as accurate as possible. MCAA further asks that you notify MCAA of any inaccurate information. MCAA committee members and sponsors will also be listed on the site. MCAA may also solicit additional information through feedback or surveys to help better serve its membership. MCAA may retain and store any information received in perpetuity.
If a site user purchases a membership, attendance at an event, or other product or service from MCAA’s site, MCAA may maintain a record of the online purchase and share that information with all necessary financial service providers. If the user provides credit card information, that information will only be used for that one purchase.
2. Security
MCAA attempts to have high-security levels for its website, although you should be aware that 100% security is not always achievable. If you e-mail information to us, MCAA cannot protect that information until it reaches the recipient.
3. Use of Cookies
Web servers pass cookies to your web browser when you visit Internet sites. Your browser stores each letter in a small file called cookie.txt. When you request another page from the server, your browser sends the cookie back to the server. These files typically contain information about your visit to the web page and any information you’ve volunteered for, such as your name and contact information.
Cookies facilitate web surfing by saving certain information. MCAA’s site uses cookies, so you will not have to re-enter information.
For privacy reasons, you may wish to view the cookies currently stored in your browser or control which sites you accept cookies from.
4. Policy on sharing your information
MCAA will not sell, rent or lease your personal information to others. MCAA may share personal information with companies working on our behalf to facilitate MCAA’s membership services. In any such cases, however, MCAA requires that the companies or entities adhere to privacy standards and policies at least as restrictive as that MCAA has in place.
MCAA may have a good faith belief that access, use, preservation, or disclosure of such information is reasonably necessary to: (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or legitimate governmental request, (b) detect, prevent, or otherwise address suspected fraud, security or technical issues, (c) enforce any applicable Terms of Service, including investigation of potential violations thereof, or (d) protect against imminent harm to the rights, property or safety of MCAA, its users or the general public as required or permitted by law.
5. Other Web Sites
